As the echoes of summer begin to fade, I find myself reflecting on the incredible season we've had at Aldersgate Camp and Retreat Center. This past summer was a beautiful testament to the enduring spirit and vibrant community that defines Aldersgate, filled with joy, laughter, and growth. Our campers, brimming with enthusiasm, created a summer full of unforgettable memories and meaningful connections.
A Summer of Steady Growth and Enthusiastic Campers
We were thrilled to welcome a community of campers whose excitement was palpable. This year, our registration numbers matched last year's, reflecting the unwavering dedication of our team and the unique experiences we offer. Aldersgate continues to be a place where lifelong friendships are formed and lasting memories are created—a true home away from home for so many.
Throughout the summer, our campers enjoyed a wide range of activities, from thrilling outdoor adventures to creative arts. Each day was filled with laughter, discovery, and personal growth. We witnessed the positive transformations in our campers, reaffirming camp's powerful role in their development. Whether it was conquering a new challenge on the ropes course, creating a masterpiece in arts and crafts, or simply sharing stories around the campfire, every moment was an opportunity for growth.
Spiritual Journeys and Creative Expressions
This summer, our campers embarked on a spiritual journey, exploring the depth and beauty of the Lord's Prayer. Our campers connected profoundly with its message through heartfelt translations and learning the prayer in American Sign Language. Worship activities like building a community mosaic with Legos and creating a construction paper tree representing our contributions to community life allowed campers to visualize and understand their role in extending God's love to all.
These experiences deepened their understanding of the Lord's Prayer and inspired them to bring these lessons back to their communities. Our campers left with stronger, more compassionate connections grounded in faith, ready to make a positive impact in their world.
Expanding Programs and Growing Community
Our overnight camp saw moderate growth this year, with a registration increase of approximately 3%. We successfully introduced an additional week of programs, offering more opportunities for campers to participate and experience the magic of Aldersgate. Meanwhile, our day camp registrations remained robust, maintaining the strong numbers we've seen in previous years. With over 100 campers each week, our Day Camp continues to be a vibrant community where children grow, learn, and have fun.
Aldersgate’s Day Camp offers children an unforgettable summer packed with fun, learning, and growth. Rooted in Methodist values, we emphasize compassion, love, and hospitality, creating a supportive space where campers feel accepted and uplifted. This inclusive approach fosters a sense of belonging and kindness, enhancing the camp experience and shaping well-rounded, resilient, and joyful young individuals.
Celebrating the Success of Our Overnight Camps
Overnight Camps at Aldersgate were alive with laughter and joy! Building on last summer’s successes, our Overnight Camps provided a classic camp experience for all ages. Adventure programs, including Trailblazers, Pathfinders, Navigators, and Challenge Camp, allowed campers to experience nature and adventure programming at their level, from sleeping in tents to roughing it at Pioneer Field.
Living Arts focused their energy on another musical production, Shrek Jr., where campers let their “freak flag fly” and enthusiastically embraced the creative process.
A Diverse and Dedicated Staff Community
Our staff is the heart and soul of Aldersgate, and this summer, we were proud to welcome 45 seasonal staff members from around the world. Hailing from countries such as England, Malta, Brazil, South Africa, Mexico, Ireland, Poland, Pakistan, and many others, our staff created a truly multicultural and multilingual community. Their diverse perspectives enriched the camp experience, allowing campers to learn about different cultures and live in a global community.
Our comprehensive staff training process ensured that our team was equipped to prioritize our campers' mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Through guest speakers and hands-on training, our staff was prepared to create lasting memories and provide a safe, supportive environment for all campers.

We are filled with optimism and excitement for the future as we look ahead. We are committed to enhancing our programs and introducing new initiatives to enrich the Aldersgate experience. The passion and creativity of our campers and staff inspire us to dream bigger and reach higher.
